Get started with ArcGIS Knowledge Server

ArcGIS Knowledge offers an entity-centric approach to data modeling and analysis. Information in a knowledge graph is structured around entities and the relationships between them. This network of things is primarily nonspatial even if some entities and relationships have an associated spatial location. When investigating the contents of a knowledge graph, analysis is focused on properties of the entities and relationships and understanding how entities are connected.

Before you or anyone else in the organization can create a knowledge graph and its associated investigation in ArcGIS Pro, the ArcGIS Enterprise portal must be configured for ArcGIS Knowledge.

When the portal has a federated ArcGIS Knowledge Server site, members who have privileges to create content and publish hosted knowledge graphs can create a knowledge graph in ArcGIS Pro.

After creating an empty knowledge graph, you can use ArcGIS Pro to perform any of the following operations:

  • Load existing data into the knowledge graph as entities and relationships.
  • Explore and analyze entities and the relationships between them.
  • Add entities and relationships that have a spatial component to a map.
  • Create link charts to represent the knowledge graph and perform link analysis.
  • Perform spatial analysis on entities associated with spatial locations.
  • Upload documents to record the provenance of entities and relationships in your graph and supplement your findings.

Each knowledge graph you create is an item in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal and is associated with a hosted knowledge graph service. To allow other members of the organization to access the knowledge graph, share the knowledge graph item with specific groups or with the entire organization.
